Orhan Yenigün received B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Middle East Technical University in Ankara in 1978;  M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Swansea University in the U.K 1983. He started working in Bogaziçi University, Institute of Environmental Sciences in 1984 as an assistant professor.  He became associate professor in 1989, and full professor in 1995. He was the Director of the Institute of Environmental Sciences of Bogaziçi University between 1999-2021, until his retirement in January 2021. He is a member of Science Academy Turkey. He is also a board member of the International Water Association (IWA) and executive board member of the Turkish National Committee for Water Pollution Control.  His main areas of scientific research are water and wastewater treatment, environmental biotechnology and air pollution.
