IoT-based Environment Monitoring System

The use of the Internet of Things (IoT) is considered significant in building a robust, real-time, and autonomous environmental monitoring system. Automated monitoring allows tracking and capturing changes in water and weather parameters which are linked to mosquito abundance across temporal and spatial scales, at the same time, transmitting data in real-time. Processing the collected data allows the prediction of high-risk areas of mosquito infestation, which is a fundamental approach for controlling mosquito populations. Thus, it controls the spread of mosquito-borne diseases by generating alerts so that public health entities can take the appropriate actions.

In this group, we recognize that the use of emerging technology such as IoT in environmental monitoring represents a significant opportunity to enhance and automate the way of collecting climatic factors whose impact is much more likely to be related to mosquito abundance.
