The second project meeting at University College London UK (June, 2018)
The aim of the meeting was to further solidify the ideas brought together earlier in February’s focus groups in Brazil – i.e., the development of a mobile phone and web-application which would be used for surveillance mosquito entomological information, and at the same time for data collection; and then unify the application with disease modelling techniques to serve as a tool for making spatial prediction and performing early warning detection of mosquito outbreaks.
Image: UFPE, UFCG researchers from Brazil came to UCL to further discuss the specifics about the integration of models and early warning for mosquito outbreaks.
Image: External collaborators and experts from the LIKA team (i.e., Prof. Jones Albuquerque), UCL Division of Medicine (Prof. Jim Owen), UFPE (Prof. Wellington P. dos Santos) and UCL Biodiversity & Evolution (Prof Kate E. Jones) were also involved UCL IRDR researchers (Prof. Patty Kostkova, Andy Boscor & Juan Beltran) to further discuss the specifics about the integration of models and early warning for mosquito outbreaks.
